Our Story
What Motivated us to start FIFFO
Fight for the Future Foundation Ltd (FIFFO) was founded by individuals who personally
experienced the challenges of growing up without adequate parental care, support, and
guidance. Many of the founders were orphans themselves, while others were raised by
single mothers under difficult socio-economic conditions. Having faced hardships such as
limited access to education, basic necessities, mentorship, and opportunities for personal
development, they understood firsthand the struggles that vulnerable children encounter
every day.
These life experiences inspired the founders to create FIFFO as a platform to provide the
care, protection, and opportunities they wished they had received during their own
childhood. Their vision was to ensure that orphaned and vulnerable children are not
defined by their circumstances but are empowered to reach their full potential through
access to education, healthcare, shelter, psychosocial support, and life-skills development.
FIFFO was therefore established out of a deep commitment to break the cycle of poverty,
neglect, and vulnerability by giving children hope, guidance, and the support needed to
build brighter futures. The founders' personal journeys continue to shape the
organization's mission and drive its dedication to creating lasting positive change in the
lives of children, youth, and communities across Uganda.
The main purpose FIFFO created to address.
FIFFO was established to respond to the challenges faced by Orphans and
Vulnerable Children (OVCs) who often lack access to essential services and
opportunities needed for a better future. The organization was founded with a strong
commitment to improving the lives of disadvantaged children, particularly in Kampala
and Rakai District, where some of FIFFO’s leaders grew up as OVCs themselves and
experienced many of these challenges firsthand.
Recognizing the barriers that vulnerable children and families face—including limited
access to education, poor living conditions, inadequate healthcare and hygiene facilities,
and economic hardship—FIFFO was created to provide support that helps individuals and
communities break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability.
Over the years, FIFFO has expanded its focus beyond direct support for OVCs to promote
broader social and economic development within the communities it serves. The
organization works to improve access to quality education, promote proper hygiene and
sanitation practices, support clean and safe water initiatives, and implement youth and
women empowerment programs. These interventions are designed to strengthen families,
increase household incomes, and build resilient communities capable of sustaining long-
term development.
Through its various programs and projects, FIFFO seeks to create opportunities for
vulnerable children, youth, women, and families to achieve improved well-being, self-
reliance, and a better quality of life, while contributing to the overall development of their
communities.
